History is Repeating Itself While We Look Powerless To Stop It
By admin on Nov 13, 2008 in Blogging, Politics, Social Media

Friends,
Will you please take the time to read this, and if you think it worthwhile, pass it along to your email list, and ask them to read it? Even if they voted, with all good intentions, for Mr. Obama?
I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it.
Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. (news link)
That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?
We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving.
Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman)
Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?. We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska.
All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)
Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.
Why?
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.
This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning.
And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises.
Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot.
And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.
He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.
(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)
Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.
Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.
Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.
I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.
Best regards
A Concerned American Citizen

Well,I for one do not intend to wait till I get a knock on the door in the middle of the night…or till we see a mushroom cloud over a major American city due to the feckless cowardice of President Obozo…or till my electricity is only available 12 hrs a day…or till the entire economy is in the toilet…..it behooves ALL of us to practice our own form of the Bush Doctrine domestically….that is to say we start busting Obozo’s chops preemptively from day one till he is exposed as the chocolate coated clown that he is….after watching the left trash GW for nearly 8 yrs,I have no intention of ‘playing nice’ and giving Obozo any slack or benefit of the doubt…much less giving him time enough to bring America to its knees….I’ve had a gut full and I’m going to start giving it back in spades

It seems to me that you hold no regard for the judges - think, not even 50 years ago, people of opposite races could not marry. Who, might I ask, decided that they could? The judge in the case Loving v. Virginia, that’s who. It hasn’t even been 60 years since Brown v. Board of Education, where it was ruled that separate education was inherently not equal. The courts are there to make sure that the majority does not impose a tyranny on the minority - you, as an educated educator, should know this.
You claim that, like Hitler, it will take a short amount of time for any President to take away basic rights and ruin our children? Well, I for one, know a certain president who managed to do that in just under seven years - the Patriot Act, the Domestic Security Enhancement Act, No Child Left Behind, the Military Commissions Act of 2006 (which just happens to violate the Geneva Convention), and used executive privilege to deny the courts from looking into the suspicious resignation of US Attorneys and subsequent hiring of ones that were much more sympathetic to the current administration. Oh, and he also issued an executive order authorizing the NSA to monitor communications between suspected terrorists outside the U.S. and parties within the U.S. without obtaining a warrant - basically allowing the NSA to spy on people by “suspecting them” of terrorism, with no real defining lines on what makes the NSA able to “suspect” a person of being a terrorist. Yet obviously, Barack Obama (who hasn’t actually /done/ anything yet, as he doesn’t become the President until January), is obviously already very much like Hitler.
This nation is, and always will be, a nation of change.

Nice work here & this is one hellacious post and I, like you folks have spent over a year on my blog warning of the formula for disaster this country has followed to the “t”.
My contention exactly is that it’s not that surprising to see history repeat itself when a majority of our population are too stupid or simply undereducated to know the history in the first place.
We see his a lot on the left with their constant collective misapplication of the word Nazi which they are so misinformed they always apply to people not even near the correct group, so it’s no wonder they don’t recognize it is they who are the dangerous collectivist socialists they don’t recognize in their mirrors.
“Yes We Can”, “Change”, truly Kindergarten phraseology for the simple simons that populate just over half the nation that just put a sloganeering buffoon in the White House, especially one who’s never even held a full time job of any significance whatsoever in his 47 year Affirmative Action determined existence.

First, I would like to point out that the president of the united states has a lot less power than the prime minister of Germany did at the time Hitler was put there (that is intentional, you know). There is no way that he could get most of the stuff you’re saying he’ll do done in one, or even two terms, he’d need the cooperation of congress. Perhaps he can get pointers from Bush on how to get congress to do exactly what he wanted… (patriot act anybody?) That brings me to my second point, the democrats are not the Nazis. To get most of this stuff passed that you say he wants, he would need the cooperation of the democrats, and a good deal of republicans to do it. The democrats are simply trying to emulate countries in Europe such as the UK.(Who have national health care, gun control, ect.) They don’t really have an agenda beyond that. Lastly Obama himself doesn’t even really know what he wants in gun control. He waffles on it more than Kerry. As you know, the two most important things to control in a police state are religion and guns. Since the government can’t control religion without changing the constitution, they’d have to have exclusive rights to the guns in the country. If Obama wanted a police state, he would have a firmer stance on gun control. That is all.

Watching that poorly edited youtube video, which you then twist to suit your own paranoid beliefs, is enough to discredit this article.
Barack Obama was a senator, which takes a lot more effort and foresight than being a mayor of a small town. Not to mention that his community organizing, which the right wing loves to talk down, was an enormous task which he started from scratch. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin couldn’t figure out what college to go to, and was a SPORTS NEWSCASTER. Barack Obama was a professor at Harvard Law School. As a professor yourself, you should see that he is clearly more intelligent than Sarah Palin.
As for comparing him to Hitler, I think you are getting so far ahead of yourself. The Civil Defense League, which HIS AIDE discussed in a few interviews, and which Barack Obama has NEVER endorsed, would not be for the purposes of creating an in-border militia stronger than our military. Even if the goal of it was military training, how would you expect that it would become more powerful than the military if everyone is only given 3 or 4 months of training?
Not to mention, the purpose of the civil defense would be largly community development. Getting young people to volunteer and help out in their community would be a great thing for this nation, especially for a generation as lazy as mine. We are disconnected from our community, and for the last 8 years we have felt disconnected from our president. Now that we have a president that we actually voted for, one that actually spoke a language that we understood, and stood on the right side of issues that we find important, you compare us to Hitler Youth. That is a weak, ageist perspective, and I hope your readers have enough will power to research all of the ridiculous claims you are making and realize that you are just a scared republican on the brink of your party falling.
As for the whole economic issues, I am disgusted by everyone who has supported it, from Barack Obama on down. Frankly I’d like to see the America Capatalist system get its ass kicked by this. Hopefully it would teach some of us that life without Best Buy is not the end of the world.

Wow.
When I voted for Obama, I knew the people who inflicted George W. Bush upon this country would be upset if he won, but this is AWESOME! You guys are frightened and feel powerless. Welcome to “what it felt like” when your guy… ahem….won the 2000 election.
I bet you wish you hadn’t sat idly by while the previous president attacked your personal constitutional rights daily and strengthened the power of the presidency. I bet you wish you’d have THOUGHT AHEAD to the day one of the Democrats won the White House back. You knew it was coming, right? You thought of that? …Because “planning ahead” is a huge part of leadership. How are you going to feel when Barack’s team is reading your emails and listening to your phone conversations? You people brought this all upon yourselves.
Of course, your fears about Obama are completely unfounded. And the Nazi/Hitler references are laughable. I thought you all said Obama was a socialist? Socialists hate Nazis, and vice versa-as anyone with a cursory knowledge of history clearly knows… Would you people make up your mind as to which inappropriate historical reference you’re making? It’s hard to keep track..
Relax. It’s not like Barack is going to invade some country that had nothing to do with 9-11 and put American soldiers in harm’s way merely to fix his daddy’s reputation. We ALREADY DID that, and, thankfully, the republic survived.
Enjoy these next 4 years, short-term-thinking Republicans. Or is it Eight? Bwa ha ha.

obama can’t do any of the stuff he promises. it’s not possible. the president can’t make that many decisions and changes. if he could, think about what this country would have been like with george bush calling the shots. to make changes to this country you have to make drastic changes to congress and that’s not happening. those bastards will always be corrupt, but they won’t let the president get away with much

Why why why are conservatives in this country so afraid of Obama? All I have been hearing since the election is how he will become a new Hitler and is going to enslave us all in community defense squads. Where is your fear coming from?
First, Obama will not be able to pass comprehensive gun control in this country, even if he wanted to. Gun control is a state’s right to mandate, and most constitution-clinging states (like my good state of Idaho) will pass contradictory legislation if the President passes any kind of anti-gun executive order. Your guns will not be taken away by Obama, it is not possible and will not happen.
Second, Obama is NOT Hitler. If you are a “student” of history, then you would understand that the comparison is so far fetched that it seems as if someone once said it as a joke and now poor, uninformed bloggers such as yourself have decided it is a reality. Hitler hated Communism, and yet you call Obama a Communist? Hitler’s socialism was not, in fact, socialism, but fascism (National Socialism). They are not the same ideology in theory or practice. Obama is not a free market capitalist, but why is that automatically a “bad” thing? This country has not been a free market capitalism since the inception of the Federal Reserve, which is the real culprit behind our banking “crisis”. If you had even an elementary understanding of history, you would know this.
Third, stop being afraid. Why, why, why would you use such a powerful medium as the internet to spread fear? Obama is no threat to this country, and while I don’t believe he will swoop in and solve all of our problems, he is a better choice than the alternative (McCain). This is not about party politics - and sir, I understand your devotion to your party and your love affair with Sarah Palin. I empathize with it. However, being a “student of history”, you should understand that blind adherence to any ideology or political party is dangerous. Think for yourself, free your mind to explore this great, big world! Obama is no Hitler, but he’s no Messiah either. We have nothing to fear from him, but he is not our saviour either. He is but one man in one branch of our government.
ps citing American Exceptionalism in the same breath as calling yourself a “student of history” is the quickest way to lose credibility, even on the internet.

This drivel is ridiculous. What you neglect to note is that fascism is the polar opposite of communism in the political spectrum. Another leader (a more “leftist” leader) came to power during the Great Depression who unified a people, rebuilt a failed economy, and successfully fought wars on multiple fronts: FDR. Roosevelt also used similar logic to Obama’s: Empower the people, trust in their ingenuity, and inspire. Hitler used scapegoating and xenophobia to rally his people, as demonstrated by his thinly veiled attempts to unify Germany for Germans. Obama suggests nothing of this sort. This posting is quite ignorant. For God’s sake, give our new President the opportunity to lead before you make such lofty, unfounded assertions. I must challenge your authority on the subject and your supposed credentials, given that this is an anonymous blog.

Obama is nothing more than puppet of the kingmakers offering the same. His is bought and paid for by the international bankers. Don’t believe me? Look who Obama has, and may chose in key cabinet positions, For the most part, the Obama-Biden transition team is staffed by veterans of the Clinton administration, associated with the US wars in the Balkans and the policy of regime change in Iraq that set the stage for the war that followed under the Bush presidency.
Moreover, Symbolic of this relationship is Obama’s decision to send Clinton’s former secretary of state, Madeleine Albright, to this weekend’s Group of 20 meeting in Washington as his personal emissary. Confronted in a 1996 interview on the CBS News program “60 Minutes” with the fact that US sanctions against Iraq had led to the deaths of half a million Iraqi children, Albright replied, “It’s a hard choice, but the price, we, think, is worth it.” She subsequently became a key architect of the US-backed dismemberment of Yugoslavia and the subsequent war against Serbia, which was marked by the widespread bombing of civilian targets. Such is Obama’s face to the world.
In terms of the military policy of an incoming Obama presidency, the most telling indication of the narrow character of the change that can be anticipated are the persistent reports that Bush’s defense secretary, Robert Gates, may be kept at his post after the change in administrations.
Citing two of the president-elect’s advisers, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that “President-elect Barack Obama is leaning toward asking Defense Secretary Robert Gates to remain in his position for at least a year.”
The retention of Gates, as the Journal points out, would send the clearest signal of essential continuity with the militarist foreign policy of the Bush administration. “Like the president-elect, Mr. Gates supports deploying more troops to Afghanistan,” the paper noted. “But the defense secretary strongly opposes a firm timetable for withdrawing American forces from Iraq, and his appointment could mean that Mr. Obama was effectively shelving his campaign promise to remove most troops from Iraq by mid-2010.”
The substantial support within the Democratic leadership for keeping Gates on was expressed last weekend by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Democrat of Nevada) in an interview with CNN. “Why wouldn’t we want to keep him?” said Reid. “He’s never been a registered Republican.” In addition, The other figure most often cited as a potential pick as defense secretary is former Clinton-era Navy Secretary Richard Danzig. Last June, Danzig delivered his own endorsement for retaining Gates, telling the Times of London, “My personal position is Gates is a very good secretary of defense and would be an even better one in an Obama administration.”
Whether Gates stays or goes, Obama’s selection of key personnel on his Pentagon transition team signals that the incoming administration “will handle Iraq and Afghanistan differently from the Bush administration—but will stop well short of a complete restructuring of American military strategy in the two war zones,” the Journal’s Yochi Dreazen reported in a subsequent column.
The co-leader of this team, Michele Flournoy, who was in the Defense Department under Clinton, is the current president of the Center for New American Strategy, a bipartisan think tank on military policy. She has publicly opposed the idea of setting a fixed timetable for withdrawing US troops from Iraq. In March 2007, she co-wrote a position paper on Iraq for the center, declaring, “The US has enduring interests in that besieged country and the surrounding region, and these interests will require a significant military presence there for the foreseeable future.”
Listen to what Dr. Carroll Quigley (Mentor to Bill Clinton) said in his book called “Tragedy and Hope” (by the way, Dr. Quigley was an insider to the international elite banking cartel)
On Pages 1,247 and 1,248, Quigley explains the real function of our two-party system: “The chief problem of American political life for a long time has been how to make the two Congressional parties more national and international. The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can “throw the rascals out” at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.”
In addition, John Hylan former mayor of New York in 1922: “The real menace of our republic is this invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over city, state and nation. Like the octopus of real life, it operates undercover of a self-created screen. It seizes in its long and powerful tentacles our executive officers, our legislative bodies, our schools, our courts, our newspapers, and every agency created for the public protection … let me say at the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller-Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as the international bankers … They practically control both political parties, write political platforms, make cats’ paws of party leaders, use the leading men in private organizations, and resort to every device to place in nomination for high public office only such candidates as will be amenable to the dictates of corrupt big business … They use the columns of these papers to club into submission or drive out of office public officials who refuse to do the bidding of the powerful corrupt cliques which compose the invisible government.”
This is why REAL candidates offering REAL change are demeaned and marginalized during the electoral process by the kingmakers controlled media; and this practice has been going since World War I. All I can say to all you poor misguided souls, you have been suckered in one more time!

America swings from the Right to the Left!
But…
The roots of the right’s core philosophy are planted in the same soil as the left’s, and are fed by the same collectivist toxins. All the presidents America have had are manifestations of the mystic-altruist-collectivist ideology.
the Republican Party has never been interested in individual liberty. They share that with the left. The competition is now clearer than ever which form of totalitarianism is best for America: left-socialism or right-religious-nationalism—-and that is what the battle is all about.
So sad. Whatever happend to genuine liberty and freedom? The world is going to hell and we are cheering it on.
Ha, hope for sale. This kind of sale is hardly new. Organized religion has been offering a similar commodity — salvation — for millennia. The Obama campaign has the feel of a religious revival with a "salvational fervor" and idealistic zeal divorced from any particular policy or cause and chariot-driven by pure euphoria.
Ah, Obama–a silver-tongued freshman senator has found a way to sell hope.
I suggest reading Obama’s book “Audacity of Hope". Ha, if he tries to implement 1/10th of the social programs that he called for in his book, America will be broke.
I understand that Obama has said in one of his speeches that, "You are your brother’s keeper, but you haven’t given enough yet!"
Sounds to me that he wants to raise taxes.
Hope and Change, Hope and Change. LOL
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."–Abraham Lincoln
I am not happy about totalitarian socialism under Obama that is to come.

This article is ridiculous. Hitler? Really? That’s absurd. This is just more fearmongering and ludicrous claims from the farthest of the Right wing to try and discredit a great man. Your comparison of Hitler’s association with radicals to Obama’s alleged “palling around with terrorists” is also highly flawed. Hitler and his friends, fellow Nazi party members, actually engaged in illegal activities together. Sure Ayers and others were involved in crimes in their pasts, but are not now, and certainly Obama never took part in any of their alleged actions. Also, let us remember that Hitler first tried to take Germany by force. Had Obama done so? I do think not, but then again, I haven’t been watching “fair and balanced” Fox News lately.
Maybe the school systems have failed you or your children, but they don’t seem to have failed everyone. There are intelligent people, both Democrats and Republicans, and to suggest that people only support Obama because they can’t think is offensive. Granted there are a lot of dumb Obama fans, but there are an equal number of stupid Obama detractors.
Seriously, the new Democratic administration has no plans to turn this nation into Nazi Germany, any more than the Bush administration did. To a certain extent, though maybe not as much as we would like, the government is still controlled by the people. Let us remember that the people who run the government are citizens just like us. If anyone were ever to try to legitimately bring about Nazism, Marxism, or any other radical, negative change, he would be quickly countered. No the nation is too divided for a politician to be able to afford any move to the radical left or right.
That being said, if Obama does have a change of heart, reads Mein Kampf, agrees with it and decides to prove you right, I’ll join you in rebellion or whatever else you’re planning. Till then, please don’t do anything too stupid or hurt anyone.
P.S. To BW, please, I read jeremy’s post and it didn’t look too stupid or anything. it’s called a different point of view, and here in America it’s encouraged. There’s no need to try to personally disparage him.

“It’s not enough for just some of us to prosper. For alongside our famous individualism, there’s another ingredient in the American saga, a belief that we are all connected as one people.” [Obama]
“It is thus necessary that the individual should come to realize that his own ego is of no importance in comparison with the existence of his nation; that the position of the individual ego is conditioned solely by the interests of the nation as a whole … that above all the unity of a nation’s spirit and will are worth far more than the freedom of the spirit and will of an individual. …. This state of mind, which subordinates the interests of the ego to the conservation of the community, is really the first premise for every truly human culture …. we understand only the individual’s capacity to make sacrifices for the community, for his fellow man.” [Adolph Hitler, 1933]
“Comrades! We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all.” [Nikita Khrushchev , February 25, 1956 20th Congress of the Communist Party]
“The main plank in the National Socialist program is to abolish the liberalistic concept of the individual and the Marxist concept of humanity and to substitute for them the folk community, rooted in the soil and bound together by the bond of its common blood.” [Adolph Hitler, quoted in Hitler, A Study in Tyranny, by Alan Bullock (Harper Collins, NY)]
When will the world learn that a million men are of no importance compared with one man? [Henry David Thoreau]

RedNeckBill - Every Day the President is warned with a whole 2 inch book of ‘warnings’. Had Bush been told that terrorists would slam planes in the the Pentagon and WTC, that would have been a real warning. Not the hundreds and hundreds of alerts that he gets daily that he can’t possibly have looked into like you think we can. That would require a staff of over 1,000,000 people on the low end just looking into the alerts received daily.
Truth bee told the FBI has stopped hundreds of terrorist attacks and made many many arrests here in the US. We have saved countless lives. Bush should get some credit no?

Who and what? It’s not a single party or a single person. It’s a movement by an ideology; one that is constructed very slowly and patiently. It is constructed through the courts and the media. It is promoted through the schools and welfare agencies. It is propagated through so-called civil rights organizations.
It is a machine designed to alter the entire system, and does so by the same method of boiling a live frog. Turn up the heat too fast and the frog will jump out. Turn up the heat gradually so each degree is accepted, and eventually the frog is boiled, for it did not realize the temperature was going up until it was too late - then it was too tired to make the escape.

Well….take a look at the comments by a Russian Scientist just a short while ago. In essence he predicts the breakup of the United States into separate country states. Don’t believe it? We as a country are not immune to the “changes” that have affected other countries of the world. Greatest Nation? We’ve been damned lucky. A Roman Senator alluded to the simple fact 1900 years ago that democratic governments on the average last last approximately 200 years before major change or collapse from internal degradation. Let’s see, we’ve existed as a “country” for 232 years. As I said we’ve been lucky! It’s about to change! Hang on and hunker down!

Pointing out similarities between what Obama was promising on the campaign trail and what Hitler was proposing during his campaign to suggest that the two share similarly totalitarian goals is a completely specious argument. They are both politicians pandering to the throngs of uneducated voters in order to win. You will find nary a politician running for any office in this country in the last 50 years that hasn’t made statements to get elected that they knew full well they could not deliver on or never had any intention to do so.
I have grown more fearful of my government over the last 6 years then I ever thought I would be. An emerging police state, fanatical “patriotism”, suspension of habeus corpus, highly placed officials condoning torture, record deficits, a government known more for it’s incompetence than anything else and you’re worried about OBAMA?
I didn’t vote for the guy and think his ideas about what the federal government’s role in our lives should be is dreadfully wrong. More then anything else though, I’m afraid that he will bank off of the fact that the Bush administration has been the catalyst for an unprecedented expansion of executive power and decide to use that power in the same reckless fashion that Bush and Cheney did.
What it comes down to in my opinion is the fact that the only choices we are provided with as far as politicians are concerned are which rights we want to have abused and how much of our money will they rob from us in order to abuse them.
If you want to be scared of Obama that’s fine. Just know you’ve probably been complicit in affording him the opportunity to do whatever it is you think he’s going to do.

Bush I give credit for not raising taxes and in a bad economic situation where the Democrats had their way in Congress and the Republicans all yelled fowl that Bush never killed Democratic bills, he could have done more to help the Republicans reign in Fannie Mae. The Democrats are in fact the party of the CRA.( Community Reinvestment Act) If you want to see why the Democrats are nearly 100% responsible for the financial meltdown there are a few videos on this page. http://www.earthfrisk.com/blog/?p=100 Invest 10 minutes and you’ll see how forcing companies to loan money to people who can;’t pay is ridiculous. The second video shows actual video footage of Democrats saying there is no problem and we need to lend more money to people who can’t afford ot pay it back.
Since it is the Democrats that did this (Carter first passed it in 1977 and it became powerful under Clinton and a Democratic Congress), I of course give most of the blame to the Democrats.
Up until 1996 or 1997 home prices increased with inflation. After this time and the CRA, since it was now easy to get a loan backed by the government, home prices started increasing well beyond inflation. Banks then got greedy since they had to lend to people anyway. Humans are naturally greedy. The government said lend and they will back by Fannie Mae. They lent to everyone - no credit, bad credit, just sign here. This is the downfall.
Are you understanding what the Democrats did to our economy? Bush I blame for not stopping them. But remember the Republicans also dislike Bush for going along with the Democrats on most issues. Remember everyone complaining that Bush never slapped a veto on a bill from Congress. What does that tell you?
All I am saying is America is one awesome country. In our zest to be ‘fair’ the restrictions we’ve put on private industry are destroying those very industries. It is 100% unfair to force banks to lend money to people that they deem unacceptable risks. Had we not gone almost socialist in the mortgage industry, there would not have been a Fannie Mae and mortgage backed securities meltdown.
We need fiscal responsibility and people in Washington that understand this. The incoming Administration is looking to pull an FDR and will be raising taxes. This is a complete disaster waiting to happen.
I also put blame on Republicans for not being Republicans and trying to out Democrat the Democrats.
red neck bill | Nov 28, 2008 | Reply
ok thats kool but your wrong again see the republicans have been in power the last 5 or so years even throwing everyone else out of the major decisions, they saw this coming for years and they had complete control of the government every branch of the government i might add, they could stopped it any time they decided to look the other way, as far as the democrats go how are you sposed to pass legisation when you out numbered 6 to 1? secondly thanks to bush for cutting taxes and then entering a war thats why we owe billions to china, how can we fit a 10 billion dollar a month bill and cut taxes, thats why we are in the pinch we are in where is the money sposed to come from the sky? like i tell every one else think for your self and look at every detail not just bias info, i doubt you will admit you are wrong, i find that most people dont want admit that they are, most the time in fact wrong, then come back with another piece of information that gets squashed again. yea thanks to bush for cutting taxes that way our kids, kids, kids, can pay back the money we owe for this war evey man woman and child in america owes thirty grand to pay for that shit. oh yea you know why bush is so kool with both parties so know one decides to investigate his ass thats why, that ass hole has never been investigated the whole time he was in office, bill clinton was investigated thousands of times they even checked who he invited to his birthday and christmas parties. send something else i love proving you wrong.

I grew up during the Great Depression. I believe the tough times made me tougher and wiser. I have recently said “What this country needs is a depression” as our populace has become lazy, unreliable and wanting everything NOW, spoiled by the good times. Their apathy has allowed the liberals to take over the media (print and electronic), education (universities and public schools), the entertainment industry (Holywood, TV, music, etc.) Congress and now the Oval Office. We are in deep doo-doo if Americans don’t wake up and I doubt that they will.

The comparison of Obama to Hitler borders on clinical paranoia. I suppose you’ll say that “The Audacity of Hope” is the new “Mein Kampf”. Give me a break.
Hitler was preaching Eugenics and Ethnic Cleansing in published books for decades before he took control of Germany.
Obama has done no such thing. Give me a break.

Thank you for writing this article. It is dead on!
All I know is that I used to come home from work, fix dinner, help the kids with homework or activities and didn’t have to worry about the daily world news. Not so anymore. I’m scared and sick over where our once great country is headed.
Yep, Obama was a Senator. Specifically, what has he accomplished? Where is his historic proof or records? IL is at the top of the list for deficits and Chicago has one of the highest crime rates in the nation. Facts are facts and Obama has many Hitler characteristics.
If Obama would come forward and answer questions and submit all of his sealed records, we wouldn’t be having half of the problems that we’re having. There was a survey done by:
UTICA, New York — Just 2% of voters who supported Barack Obama on Election Day obtained perfect or near-perfect scores on a post election test which gauged their knowledge of statements and scandals associated with the presidential tickets during the campaign, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows.
There’s been so much said that I didn’t know what to believe; so, I spent countless hours watching Congressional videos. Neither party is, to say the least clean, but this future government is our demise.

“The only thing we have to fear Is fear itself.”
I understand keeping an eye on the president…actually EVERY president.
Where were you sir when Bush started to rape our civil liberties and freedoms?
Like every other old fart republican, It’s easy to see your motives. I think you may be right on some things. Obama isn’t right about everything…or neccacarily anything…My problem with your narrative is that it’s based on fear that Obama is deep down a crazy dictator who wishes to control everyone.
If that ever starts happening, trust me, I’ll be the first one loading my guns into my trunk and driving down to Texas. But until then I’m going to show the president elect the same respect you complain that Bush doesn’t have.
Understand one thing neocons. Fear is no longer going to recruit your members. We will not be afraid. We will be watchful, thoughtful, rebellious, and freedom fighters. But We will not be Afraid.

This isn’t just about Obama.
The American public by and large has relied on schools to educate them. The government school system stopped doing that decades ago. Everyone reading this blog, this reply, everyone in America has a duty to themselves and their country to tap into the vast amount of information available and learn history. Then and only then will you realize that we are headed down a road already travelled; by Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, North Korea, The Weimar Republic (WWI), The Soviet Union.
You will also see just how visionary our founding fathers were in framing our country.
Nothing will change if you don’t act now.

You couldn’t be more on point! Until you start ‘babbling’ about Barack being the reason; let me remind you, he is not even president! This mess was caused by our Monetary System, which is unsustainable and in danger of outright collapse! Greedy corporations in cahoots with our leaders and Fed.
It sounds like some people are ready to riot just because Mr. Obama is president. Let me assure you that he is not the cause. I will agree thought that our political system is built on corruption but I hope it changes now and inflation doesn’t come back to really destroy our communities!

I really worry.
We don’t know too much about Obama’s character except from his auto biographies he has published.
He has a very thin resume.
He has voted present in controversial issues during his State Senate years.
All his public records about him are sealed.
To me, this is worrisome. Who is the real Barak Obama?
I think we have a sick narcissist puppy in the White House.
This guy hasn’t been vetted. Most of our government officals who fancy themselves as the next Napoleon or Mussolini can be weeded out by the voting public. They do leave a record especially their miscalculated missteps.
But with Obama its been a rapid rise to absolute power.
Actions speak louder than words.
Obama’s action speak louder than words but the mesmerized public don’t want to wake up.
They’re so desperate for change that they will give up their freedoms for it.

It is very scary reading what people have written. They are so busy hating Bush that any thing is better.
Not true, and we are starting to see that. I am moderate, and see that things are not heading in the right direction.
The president has to be accountable to us and Obama doesn’t see it that way. He isn’t even concerned about our relationship with friendly states.
Please just keep in mind that it could be wrong. Most of you are so far to one side or the other that to admit that you are wrong will not happen. That is truely what happened with Germany.

It’s so strange that so many Americans do not understand that the great experiment in human liberty of 1776 is brand new on the face of this earth. We were actually a truly free and independendent people until the international bankers appropriated our currency.
So sad.
Look back at a thousand years of world history. The one unchanging phenomenon is that bankers — the really big bankers and financiers — have no loyalty, have no god (or other moral compass), and no nationality.
Our nation was sold in 1913. Everything since then has been a logical outcome of that simple act of treason. Obama is just the latest puppet.
