   What amazes me about the hysteria directed at this administration and Congress is how little they have accomplished, and how over the top are the responses such as this. They’ve given away billions to major corporations that have played fast and loose with individual Americans’ money, and are about to do it again, it appears, with the health care bill – the only surviving element of which is the mandate which does not “cover” anyone. It makes 30 million Americans criminals if we don’t buy health insurance from the private insurers whose policy is to make a buck by denying care and coverage to those who need it most. They’ve escalated the wars of choice in Iraq and, now, Afghanistan – another gift to major American corporations. All the while small business people like the author and myself got bupkis from DC. And we’re supposed to think this resembles Socialism or even Marxism in some significant way?

   What they have accomplished is to bring lots of Americans together in opposition to the health care bill – albeit for very different reasons – and making more Americans consider what our massive and exponentially expanding debt means, and what our priorities need to be.

   In the meantime, while the right and the tea baggers go apoplectic, I’m wishing the party I’ve supported for so long would grow a pair, insert a spine, and start governing. The last two elections were a clear repudiation of Republican governance. In voters’ frustration, if the Democrats don’t start accomplishing something, I’m sure the majority will be happy to give the Republicans and fundamentalists another whack at it. Who else do we have as an alternative?

While you never gave a shit about Bush giving every mega-business that wanted to go to China a free pass. Yeah, blame the guy who’s hasn’t even been in office a year yet and throw it all our economic problems at his feet. While the guy who caused this mess who sat in office for 8 years who supported mega-corps who reaped the most of the tax cuts. Offend left, right, and center? I don’t see how you possibly offended anyone on the right while I know I just did. Obama sucks but comparatively to what we had and what we would of had from the GOP. It could suck a lot harder.

   You act as if all of this started with the election of Obama, and completely ignore that this country has been barreling down this highway to doom for thirty years. Maybe even forty years if you want to count the costs deferred with the Vietnam debacle.

   I recognize your talking points — I see them all over Right-wing blogs, copied from hearing Rush, Hannity, Beck, et al repeating them ad infinitum. “It’s Obama’s fault”, or the “Democrat’s fault”.

   Yes, Obama and the Democrats are the current villains in power. But they aren’t the cause. In fact I would even go as far to say they aren’t really in power except for name only.

   Yes, the Health Care Reform Bill currently in the Senate is a steaming pile of excrement and should be flushed as it is. But notice it is because of Conservatives that it is in that shape. Most Progressives would have been quite happy to simply open up Medicare to all and allow people under 65 to buy into the program on their own dime. If you didn’t want to use Medicare, you didn’t have to — you could stay with your private carrier. Or better yet, supplement Medicare with a private insurance plan — just like they do in Canada.

   But no, you conservatives got tricked by the insurance lobby into thinking that the “death panels” were coming, and the Democrats were determined to snatch the food from the mouths of the insurance CEOs.

   Great piece. I think just about everyone in the country is scared, except the lefty loonies. Between the climate change scam and the health care scam, our country is doomed. The Dumbocrats are not even listening to the people. I think there is going to be a violent coup. Obozo has been in office for a year and the country is going to hell. I dont think we can take another three. If there is not an takeover then I am moving to Texas and hoping they secede from the county.

    Yeah – I agree Obama is a nut job who in fact has a Marxist agenda. Those that say otherwise still have tinkerbells media glitter in their eyes.

    …But…it all aint his fault. It’s ours. We complain endlessly, and do nothing. we are a country that feels happiness is a constitutional right, no matter who it hurts. 20% return on investments? That’s an article in the Bill of Rights somewhere… This all isn’t Bush, Obama, Clinton or the other nin-cum-poops before him – it’s us folks. We abuse credit, don’t save, hold nothing in reverence, care less about our future and more about mini-series on TV. We can’t even develop our own opinions anymore – so – we have the popular media to spoon feed them to us.

    If it ever comes to USSA, our leaders didn’t do it. We did it with complacency, laziness and a lack of citizenship.

    Still, I’d pay $100 to watch Obama thrown out of the Whitehouse on his can…

    Typical though, the party that espouses the attitude that someone else is to blame for all ills is again trying to avoid taking blame themselves.

    Meanwhile, both sides lack the will to adhere to the Constitution and would rather continue lining their pockets at the expense of the people.

    Obummer is being more blatant about his distain for the Constitution than Bush was.

    Well, that’s all well & good, boys and girls, because the ordinary guy is fed up with both and if the Muslim at 1600 continues, well…

    All I can say is arm up, the revolution is coming. Of that, I have no doubt.

    Every American should read this. Get your head out of the sand America and be responsible for yourselves. Unlike Michelle Obama, I have always been proud of my country. Maybe because my father fought in the 82nd airborn in WWII. A pride in my country was instilled in me as a birthright. I personally feel this country is worth saving, even with my life. I knew from the very beginning this man was “bad news” for America and for our way of life !! More so… than any person or President before him… and most likely “anyone that ever comes after him” !!     Wait Folks, you ain’t seen nut’n yet.. Deep within the 2125 page legal health document sez that, if you do not forcefully buy H.insurance and pay the demanded premium, the Obama Government will go after and seize any asset that you have. Your bank account, your IRA, your 401K and even put a lean on your house to secure payment of your medical bills, as you will still owe the Federal Government and they will give you NO FORGIVENESS on your debt. Paying the Fine will not release you from the Govn’t demand that you buy H insurance..
    With this Socialist-Democrat ram-down-your-throat legislation you will comply or Die…

    I converse with some deeply radical democrats (actually may I call them as Marxist-Socialists who have invaded & taken-over the Democrat Party apparatus) – - that the Marxist goal is to foment such a suffering that the Masses attempt an Armed Revolt so that the Govern’t Forces can then be used to declare Martial Law and forcefully Dis-arm the Public. An Armed Insurrection or Revolution is exactly what the Marxist-Socialist-Democrats are deliberately attempting to Provoke. Every world Dictatorship has done exactly what this Marxist Administration is doing now to gain Absolute Power.. We spend 10 min. thinking of our next leaders, 2 min voting for them and they get 2,750,000 min. to “eFF” you over..
    Think about it, 2min for you, 2,750,000 for them. That’s 2,750,000 min from now before you get to say “Enough is Enough.”
    It will now take a Military Coup to remove this bunch of self-declared Rulers because before the Next Elections to remove them, they intend to Provoke Martial Law and remain in power over you, you & you too. Learn to say Yes,Massah..

    After the licensed thievery of the consolidated oligarchy in this country, over the last thirty years; it is about time. You fascist neo-cons act as though there is no justifiable backlash taking place. I watched as your lobbyists and our govt. brought about the conditions that eroded our income base in this country that you claim to love. We no longer have the ability to take care of ourselves you bunch of nitwits. There is no work and if you expect us to sit on the outside and watch you eat cake, get ready, the fight will be brought to the street. People need to eat. People need to have clean air, food, water and the ability to take care of their business. In the absence of work, how do you think they will take care of their families? The system is broken because moneyed interest was given access and provided legislative opportunities that INDIVIDUALS were not. There was no good safe guard to ensure that publicly traded companies weren’t given advantages AT THE EXPENSE OF SMALL BUSINESSES AND SOLE PROPRIETORS! No business should have the rights that an individual was blessed with in this great country. But that is what happened – while all the right-wing commentators bred division. We either need to come back to terms with each other and re-found ourselves or we will never be able to have the most basic of trust in one another and we will sink further. This is irrational selfishness in broad daylight. I am proud of my nations history but no longer have respect for the effort of my peers. This business climate feels sullied to me.

    I don’t really see why everyone in America is so up in arms about Public Health Care. We have public health care in Canada and everyone pays for it – whether themselves or by their employer. It is subsidized by the provincial governments and only amounts to 100 a month or less. Some provinces even cover the entire cost (Alberta). I wouldn’t say we live in a dictatorship just because we pay a little more for taxes than our American neighbors. We also had balanced federal budgets up until this last year. I think that America is just starting to look at different economies that are a little more socialist to see what is done right and wrong and seeing what they can do to better the living conditions for their own people.

    Just a thought. Public Health Care is a very important thing for America. In 30 years when the health care system catches up with the policies, this will be something that is expected and something that will reduce the seperation between lower and middle class Americans.

    I find it interesting that so many Americans attach negative connotations to the term “Marxism” considering that the vast majority know nothing about it aside from what their parents from the cold war era told them. Pick up the “Marx, Engels Reader” and actually read it before dismissing some aspects of Marxism/Socialism. You might discover that we already have long standing socialized institutions that have done just fine, and you might discover that there are other fixes for our economy to be found.
    Ultimately our economy is in this state because of the free market being allowed to run so rampantly in the first place. Quoting Ron Bloom from your video link, “The whole point is to game the system.” Sadly the house always wins. Turns out there are other countries who are even better at gaming the system then us.
    It might be easy to point fingers and blame other people for the state of things. Personally I would never want the presidents job, he inherited the office in an absolute mess. Obama’s election is still a hell of a lot better then the alternative, I don’t see Biden on the cover of every tabloid.
    Instead of pointing fingers everyone should take a look at how they personally have contributed to the downfall of our economy. the most common occurrence that just about everybody can take a part in is the abuse of spending and borrowing. We live in a culture where everyone needs it now, instead of saving and paying in cash. We would not of had the housing crisis if people actually took the time to read the fine print on the loan contract they signed, but that’s the presidents fault too right?
    There is a reason so many famous philosophers dismiss democracy – no one wins in a compromise.

    I see a lot of finger pointing on both sides. “Obama is a Marxist.” “Bush is an Idiot.” (Both are true). But I have never solved a problem by blaming it on someone else. I was just wondering if the USA was ever going to get over itself. Wile most industrial states are able to provide heath care for their citizens, we have failed. I hear people claim that we have the best health care in the world, but that’s only if you can afford it. The sad thing is you need to make more than six figures to afford it. Last time I checked 90% of us don’t.

    The other thing we need to see is the adverse poverty in the world. We are lucky to come from a State where we can afford to travel the world. I have, and seen the squalor that some children are raised in. When i read some of these comments i feel that Americans think they are better people than these poor children. We seem to think that Killing others for our profit is fine (Iraq war). What happened to our morality. Do we think that only Americans are worthy of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

    There are those who still claim that climate change is a myth. Tell that to the polar bears who no longer have enough ice to hunt on. Tell that to your child when when our great plains turn into deserts. I am a avid skier. When i was a child, ever winter I could drive to the top of our local mountain and ski on ten to fifteen feet of snow. Now we are lucky to get more than a couple feet of cover. And that rarely last into March. This is the only planet we have, so why not try to take care of it. While I don’t think we can kill earth, it is possible for us to make it unable to support human life. If you ask any astrophysicist we are thousands of miles for any star, and we still haven’t found a habitable planet (no mars is not habitable). So until we do, don’t you think it is our responsibility to make sure our children have a planet to live on.

    People need to realize we are all in this together and this stupid finger pointing is not helping. I wish we listed to Gorge Washington and Tomas Jefferson and abolished the parties. They don’t help, they only make us easier to control by the people who have all the money.

From Clinton, Bush and now Obama….Fox news tried to report on the agreement that put the US Banking and Insurance agencies under a european regulatory board called the FSB…Mr. President and his cabinet did not like that they were reporting the news and making him look bad…because he was sneaking around doing things america would not approve of. He labeled Fox News as not a REAL news station and now many cable companies are pulling them from their cable channels…This is called Sensorship people. My daughter is disabled. I took her to a government medical facility to verify her disease …it was dirty and disgusting…this is what we have to look forward to with Obamacare… Wake up and smell the stink in your own back yard. America is coming down and its your ignorance that is contributing to it.

    A lot of you completely missed what I was saying above. Instead, you want to throw around labels like Obama is a “Marxist” without having a clue of what an actual Marxist is. All most of you know is that a “Marxist” is somehow bad.

    Obama is too inept to be a Marxist. Bush was too inept to be a Fascist. Both are just figureheads with little or no real power to do anything.

    Scott, your side blamed Clinton up until the point Obama was elected. Then you started in on Obama before he even took the oath of office.

    CJ: Obama didn’t create this mess. Even Bush didn’t start it, he just made it worse. That doesn’t mean that Obama isn’t falling into the same trap as the previous administrations — he is. The problem is, you all just want to blame HIM and not see that we got to where we are at over TIME — a long time — and much of it started with Reagan.

    But not all of it. Johnson and Nixon really started us on this path with the Vietnam war. Carter was caught up in having to pay for THAT debacle and Reagan simply borrowed our way out of it.

    Clinton raided Social Security to buy us out of our deficit and Bush just borrowed $3 Trillion bucks to make us look like we were having a great time.

    I think he hoped that he could make it completely through his term before it all came crashing down, but he missed it by a year.

    Try looking at the BIG picture for once. You people spend too much time scrutinizing the pixels and miss what has really been going on.
