2 Quick Ways to Jump Higher If you Already Rank on First 2 Pages of Search Results

happy hour

It’s time to go to Happy Hour right after this post. A friend of mine spit up his drink after I showed him this poster. He e-mailed it to show it to his wife and she didn’t like it too much. It seems that he will be staying home to do more search engine optimization work, linkings and postings and such. I figured he’d love it being that we’re all going to get a few drinks and he will be stuck home with his wife. Why can’t she get him a beer? ( Don’t be mad Teri, I still love you! No matter how many times you don’t help the poor man out. Just do you know I have ADD, really. It comes out in my posts.

On to the topic at hand…

Here are two little tricks that always seem to work. Why they work – well one makes sense from a fresh content point of view. The other you will see yourself or already have if tried. Perhaps some might cry foul, but it is all true and it makes sense from a search engine’s point of view.

Trick Number 1 Fresh Content On Your Homepage.

I’m not talking about switching around some little nothings or just a news feed, although some claim this helps and I’ve seen it help with a few sites. I’m talking a paragraph or two at least every day or two. By the way, if you just keep playing with your homepage and adjust very minor things, there is a Google penalty that will smack you down 2 or 3 spots just for messing with them. I know and have done it both ways numerous times to test this out.
I have about 65 Websites for various businesses that mostly are handled by employees and managers. I’m sorry but I will not list them all here for obvious reasons. Firstly I don’t want to annoy other people with linkspam. Secondly sometimes it’s better to keep things on the down low as they say. I’m sure you webmasters can understand this.

By the way it is Friday and my ADD mind races back and forth from finishing this post to getting out to have a little fun. I interrupt this post for an important message to all of you office workers. Today being Friday -

Casual Sex day

OK enough distractions for the matter at hand. I might joke around too much for some people.

Here is the wisdom of mass numbers and what I’ve found to always work.

If you have a website in the top 10 of your search term, I have seen it and lived it that you can watch your site jump from whatever position upwards by 3 spots at a minumim, even if those above you that you jump over have more inbound links. This applies to any site in the numbers 6- 20 position on Google. I’m sorry but I never closely watched Yahoo or Live or Ask’s results.

On top of this you can get your site up one more notch at least ( assuming you are at 4-20) by the simplest thing of all. Having Google Adsense on your homepage somewhere.

I’ve tested this theory out specifically with over 3o sites in various fields. It has always worked and when you remove adsense ads, you lose that Adsense bonus. The webmasters were a little pissed that I forced them to play these games but I like seeing how things work.

This makes a lot of sense from Google’s point of view as wouldn’t you want sites that promote your own money making advertisements to get a ‘leg up’ as we say in New York.

It isn’t anything major but when you combine these two you can get your site up from 8 all the way to 4 or even 3! Try it yourself and see the results.

These two little tricks combined make your site far more attractive to the the G-Man. I can’t tell you if they also work if your website or blog ( over 15 of the sites we own are blogs, mostly wordpress, livejournal, blogger and one myspace) is ranked in position 20 plus as I never had the time to track it. I’m sure it does help and my assumption is it helps your site far more. The reason being, the jumps up in ranking are always smaller once you get to the higher pages ( page 1 and page 2).

I hope this neat little couple of ideas helps some of you who may not know it. You’d be surprised at who doesn’t know. One of my search engine optimization people had no idea ( this was 3 months ago). I told him stop adding links for a couple of months to this one site then did the experiment and it works as usual.

He cried foul at this but I’m thinking If I owned Google I would do the same. I would write that right into that famous algo of theirs for ranking sites. Does it not make sense?

Ok I’m late for Happy Hour! Have A good weekend everyone. The crew at my Financial Services company are all going to a club. I’m a bit old to dance but what the hell. It’s a tradition among Wall Street financial companies for employees to get totally wasted after work on Friday. Usually I still work but tonight I’m making an exception.

That’s an interesting theory about the adsense that makes a lot of sense. I took adsense off of my site about 2 weeks ago, and since then my high ranking keywords have dropped a few steps down.

I’ll put an adsense block back on to test it. Thanks for the heads up, and I’ll post my results here again. :)

I was just proven wrong by one of my own SEO people for 3 of our own sites. I guess nothing ‘always works’ for anything in the search engine rankings.

    Oh, I see.

Well, since I put the adsense block back up, I’ve had a jump of 60+ google hits a day. Perhaps that’s just a coincidence.

Lots of coincidences you’ll see when it comes to Google. It’s all of the grey that keeps SEO people in business. I’m glad you found this info helpful!
