What a stupid thing to do, as if religion isn't moronic enough...
this kid is going to get to a point in her life when she realises it was
just a lie, I think, as a pet owner... who considered them to be very valuable members of the family, and going through the trauma of losing them, that this is a terrible thing to do. Yes, send a note of sympathy or a gift, sure... but to pretend you're a non-existant god?.
omg!! seriously, i stumbled upon this page and i (who does not belong to any groups), actually sign to specifically respond to "wolfie", this is a 4 yr old little girl, honestly maybe if someone had cared enough when you were a child to extend a little comfort to you during even one traumatic event maybe you would be able to see the beauty in this. so to all the good people out there who do see the precious beauty here, don't get to upset w/good ol' "wolfie" it's not their fault, they're just a product of their enviorment. let them hang out for a while so they (hopefully) will be able to see beauty like this one day. hey, you never know.... they may even end up joining greenpeace or something!!!!! (we can always dream)!!!!!
I think your being a little bit nasty there Wolfie. I don't think it was means anything more than sending a letter to Santa or something. Millions of kids do that, infact there is a business in it. Let the kid wonder for a little longer, let her believe God took her dog to heaven.
There will be a point when she realises that god didn't write back to her, you are right about that, but there was a point for everyone when Santa didn't exist, the tooth fairy actually didn't put that money under your pillow, there are no scary monsters under your bed.
I myself have lost a dog who was a dear friend (she was a family pet from when i was about 2 yrs old and she died when I was 18), and I don't especially want to believe that she is simply non-existent now. It might be true, but I don't wanna believe it. Ignorance is bliss :D
Actually, there is a picture of her on my wall, 5 years later and with another superb dog living with me :)
There are many great people in the world. Il ove this site for introducing me to so many as well. For the people who have to get negative all the time, grow up already. Life is about helping others. If you don't like other people go live on an island by yourself, or hang out at Facebook or something. This place is too cool for you.
Wolfie is a jerk, i've been an atheist for a long, long time not to mention currently own both cats and a dog, as well have lost my share of pets that i loved and grieved for dearly.
And with all that, particularly my dis-belief in god, this was still one of the sweetest things ever. and even when the girl does grow up, perhaps chooses not to believe in god and realizes the gift she received was from another human or as you put it a "lie", I'm sure she will still fondly appreciate the anonymous person for giving her comfort while she was a child, and be thankful of her experience of true selfless kindness
Wolfie is morally blind. Wolfie is the very definition of an "arschloch" (look it up in German). What a moron! The person who sent the little girl a reply is a caring and empathic individual. It was a beautiful letter and a kind thing to do.

Indeed there are good people in this world.

This was so sweet my 15 year old daughter sent it to me and I did cry. I will pass this on to a lot of people I know.
Wolfie that was very mean and not a nice thing to say just because it made you cry don't give you the right to be like that. Its ok to cry you know.
God does exist and I am also a pet owner.
